In the 1980’s third-generation Frank and Alan joined, followed by sister Elaine. Lindy Communities soon extended to new construction (The Enclaves in Center City South), student housing (YoNo and Academia Suites), senior lifestyle housing at The York House, the 100 plus acres of Meadowbrook Club Community, and the Towers at Wyncote, Pennsylvania’ largest high rise apartment community. Recent times have expanded with the 4th generation, with Jacob and Jeremy, services to Florida’s West Coast, including the new communities of Addison at Tampa Oaks, Iris at Northpointe, plus Center City Dayton’s, The View of Dayton Towers.
Each community is renovated and further enhanced every year after. Today, Lindy Community serves as Philadelphia’s premier Housing Provider in its Northeast, Center City South, Mt. Airy and Germantown, Oak Lane, and Logan. Additionally, the family offers the most prominent apartment living in the Philadelphia suburban communities of Warrington, Cheltenham, Abington, and Jeffersonville/Norristown, plus Dayton, Ohio.
Reflecting the values of Resident Experience, The Family prides itself with extraordinarily high resident retention. Nine solar power rooftops plus electricity generated from wind power in every community, along with resident gas heat and hot water bills averaging under $25 monthly, all reflect environmental sensitivity. The family’s civic engagement is multi-faucet, including The Drexel Lindy Center for Lindy Engagement, Lindy Institute of Urban Solutions, founding Jefferson University’s Philadelphia Health Equity Collaborative, After School Activity Program, The National Liberty Live Like a Hero, and countless others. However, we take special pride with Fiesta School Yards, play areas for Philadelphia Public Elementary School Students, otherwise without playgrounds or outdoor amenities.
Lindy Communities, a fourth-generation family Housing Provider, has provided quality apartment living since 1939! Lindy Communities’ mission is the Resident Experience. Lindy Communities also prioritizes addressing our shared carbon footprint impact, community commitment and civic engagement.
In 1933, Jacob and Freeda Lindy entered property management. With a bad heart and unable to secure Life Insurance for his family, as an alternative to Life Insurance, Jacob D. Lindy built Sedgwick Gardens, a West Mt. Airy luxury apartment community. More than 80 years later, the family continues to offer Sedgwick Gardens living.
By 1961, second-generation Lindy Brothers, Philip Lindy, and brothers Alan and Robert constructed over 2000 new homes. During the 1960s, ’70s and 80’s Philip and his wife, Annabel, expanded Lindy Property Management throughout Philadelphia and surrounding counties.
We have built a reputation for excellence on a foundation of integrity and quality of service.
